Check out this article I wrote for travelicious.world on visiting Beijing ! Click here
University here is not very intense: there are not many lessons and it seems no one is willing to help me with the research project that was supposed to fill my free time. (This is actually just the polite way to say that no one gives a s*** about me and I can do whatever pleases me).
I have thus had the opportunity to travel quite a bit during the 2 and half months I have already spent in China. I visited Beijing, Datong, Pingyao, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Shanghai, Nanjing, hiked on the Great Wall, climbed to the top of Taishan Mountain and I still intend to go to Xi’an, travel down south as well, maybe to Yunnan province and up north to Harbin.
During my past travels, I noticed a similarity between all of these places: round doors!
Now you’re probably thinking “who cares”, but I could only draw one conclusion from this: Hobbits come from China!
So now you might think I am jumping to quick conclusions but I noticed something else, hobbits live in middle earth right? Well, China in Chinese is: Zhongguo. Guo means country and Zhong means middle so literally “middle country” just like “middle earth”!
So Hobbits may actually be real and they lived thousands of years ago in China!
Unfortunately Tolkien never traveled to China so this kind of dismisses my theory, but who knows right?
